I have been reliably informed…

…of the following:

  1. This is the two-wheeled future of Vietnam — 090316_beta_californianow normally around these parts “electric bipeds” would only interest the beret-wearing wrinkled-faced stripey-pyjama-clad brigade and their darling spouses or the odd environmentally conscious young professional, who studied in Switzerland, but on the open road these babies go up to 50- 55mph/ 80-88.5 kmph  (twice the speeed of normal electric bikes) and look kinda like a normal scooter. That’s pretty bloody fast… Minsk drivers better prepare to be passed out by a granny speeding off to the market sometime soon. The bikes are also being made in Vietnam and will retail for 1,250 to 1,500 of your American dollars.
  2. Ratatat, the band rather than the noise, will be heard LIVE in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Ratatat_statueOur source at C.A.M.A. HQ has said so and we believed him — we did, really, but we did also check the myspace page of the Brooklyn duo as well and lo and behold, there it was, for all the online world to see, upcoming shows: Ho Chi Minh City May 29 in Pacharan, Hanoi May 30 Venue TBA. For those that don’t know Ratatat are tres bien and not to be missed in a town like this town. The venue has JUST been confirmed — it will be over the bridge in Gia Lam at a place called Nha San Ben Ho (where previous C.A.M.A. gigs have been held — check this map for now) and while we have you transfixed — you are aren’t you? — watch this video by the boys…
